No bottled salsa is even comparable to this recipe. So fresh and clean tasting! Serve with nacho chips and guacamole, or a topper for fajitas or wraps!

Serves 10-15


4-5 firm tomatoes, Hot-House or Roma tomatoes

1/4 cup red onion, minced finely

1 garlic clove, minced very finely

1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped

juice of 1 lime

3/4 cup of diced bell pepper, any colour

1 tsp cumin

1 jalapeño, diced (or 1 tsp of red pepper flakes)


Step 1: Cut the tomatoes in half and scoop out the insides. Chop into smaller pieces and add to a bowl. Add the minced red onion, garlic, cilantro, bell pepper and jalapeño. Since the garlic on this dish is raw, you will want to mince it very fine, or use a microplane to ensure the garlic is very small, without any large chunks.

Step 2: Mix in the cumin and lime. Mix together well, seasoning with a little bit of kosher salt. Taste it to see if it needs more cilantro or lime juice.

Serve with nachos
